Jesse has a long history of living in community, culty and otherwise, from her youngest years and at all points since. And yes, she's lived in a lot of the groups they'll cover here! Creating this podcast is a natural next step in the conversations she was having anyway... What draws us to community? What prompts us to leave? What is the depth of experience in between? What makes a group "good" or "bad," and will anyone else join all these cults with her? (Spoiler alert: Jesse would join them all)...

Ameran has been gifted the joyful position of growing up cult-adjacent (regional connections gave her great exposure), and this has opened countless otherwise closed doors for the insightful and curious Ameran to look through. All the fun of weird cult life, without all that pesky commitment! 

While Jesse is apt to jump into every group they cover, Ameran keeps a foot set in each world and provides a more critical eye to the red or green flags in each new scene. She will definitely save Jesse from wandering into the wrong group shenanigans one day.

CIJ is made by two dynamic women who don't know as much as most about the view from the mainstream world. Because of this, they can't always gage what might be 'extra weird' to the average Karen. Is speaking in tongues 'normal,' (they think yes), or does it freak average people out (feedback has taught them it freaks people out). Because of this, guests are a fun and welcome sounding board, reacting with appropriate humor or horror to things J&A might have thought were average. 

CIJ will also occasionally host guests from the group they are discussing. The inside view is what this whole thing is about, so friends who have been on the inside looking out have a lot of magic to share with the rest of us!
